Noster Studio • Garden Design

Noster Studio is a modern garden design practice based in Kingston Upon Thames, lead by Garden Designer Magdalena Noster. We work throughout London and Surrey. Our aim is to deliver bold and elegant designs that provoke truly positive emotions. We strive to create beautiful and uplifting places which are tailored to our clients’ needs and aspirations. Our gardens are functional and defined by the play of light, texture and proportion.

We believe that gardens are life–enhancing places and these precious oases deserve to be treated with care and respect. We are sustainable placemakers and we advice our cliects to use natural materials which we source for them locally if it is possibile. We work in tune with nature, so we always select plants that would be suitable for the place in consideration of the quality of soil, lighting condition and exposure.

So, you want to have a garden where you can just be yourself?

Here at Noster Studio, we promise to hold YOU at the centre of our design process. Whether you long for an intimate, wildlife friendly garden, family retreat or modern outdoor room, we will explore your and your family’s needs and offer creative solutions tailored to your place. We believe that a combination of great design and high quality materials is timeless. There are certain aspects of design that skilfully combined make a garden a truly magical place. They are light, texture and spatial arrangement.

Each garden is unique and every great garden design starts with a conversation.

1
Light
Light
Light is often one of the most fundamental aspects in garden design. Depending on the season and the time of the day, light changes the character of the garden, making it magical, dull or mysterious. At Noster Studio we put special emphasis on both types of light: natural and artificial.

If you already love your garden, but it seems too dark maybe Lighting Design is all you need.

2
Texture
Texture
While many of us imagine a perfect garden that is full of colorful flowers, quite often city gardens are deprived of proper lighting conditions. We see it as a great opportunity to incorporate woodland plants. The play of textures in soft and hard landscaping adds new dimentions to gardens.
3
Spatial Arrangement
Spatial Arrangement
City gardens are often called rooms for a reason. Tiny space contained between the walls of neighbouring properties calls for very careful spatial arrangement. This is why at Noster Studio we focus on functionality but we also understand that privacy and view from your windows are of equal importance.
