Family Oases in Surbiton
Brief
Low maintenance, private garden for a family of three was requested.
The view from the living room window was dominated by the buildings. The clients would therefore like more height and structure to obscure this. There is a preference for evergreens with a splash of colour during spring, summer and autumn.
Design Solution
The overall concept of the design was to obscure the buildings with evergreen hedges and focus on the gap between the buildings to create an interesting view from the living room. This narrow view is framed by trees underplanted by perennials. The lawn in the shape of an ellipse was separated from the borders with edge to help with the maintanance routine.
